We’ve got your weekend planned for you! The City has two family-friendly events we hope to see you at. On Saturday, September 6, join us for Coffee & Community / Café y Comunidad from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Anna’s Bakery (7018 Marketplace Drive). Then on Sunday, September 7, head over to Ice in Paradise (6985 Felicia Drive) from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. for ice skating, the Goleta Valley Library Bookvan, and a library card sign up event!
Here is what you need to know before you go:
Coffee & Community
Saturday, September 6
9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Anna’s Bakery (7018 Marketplace Drive)
Get updates on what is happening in western Goleta. Mayor Paula Perotte, Mayor Pro Tempore Stuart Kasdin (District 4), and City staff will be on hand to answer questions about issues impacting your neighborhood. Topics to include, Ellwood Mesa, fire preparedness, pavement and capital projects like the 101 Overpass Study, airport noise, homelessness, and anything else that may come up. Spanish interpretation will be available.
Thanks to Anna’s Bakery, serving the community since 1990, for providing an area with free coffee and donuts. There will also be an area for kids to do some coloring.
Cool Back-to-School Event
Sunday, September 7
1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Ice in Paradise (6985 Santa Felicia Drive)
Start off the new school year with the back-to-school event “Skate into the School Year with some Cool Reads.” Come by Ice in Paradise with your Goleta Valley Library card and enjoy free admission for ice skating. Don’t have one? Don’t worry! The Bookvan will be parked out front and staff can create one for you right then and there. Bring your government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, ID card, or passport) and proof of California residence to sign up. Children under the age of 13 need a parent or guardian with them to get their own library card.
In addition to giving out library cards, you can also stop by the Bookvan to borrow books, do a fun craft, learn about the new temporary location for GVL Express at 6500 Hollister Avenue, Suite 105, or just say hello to library staff. Hear stories about ice skating and going back to school while you browse with popup story times!
Thanks to a generous partnership with Ice in Paradise, Goleta Valley Library patrons can receive free ice skating* admission the first Sunday of each month from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
*Please note there is a $5 skate rental fee. One library card per skater is required. Skaters must be a minimum of 3 years old.
We are looking forward to a great weekend of connection and hope to see you!
