Frequently Asked Questions
Who can check out seeds?
Anyone! No library card is needed to take seeds from the Goleta Valley Seed Library.
How do I check out seeds?
Browse our seed packets to make your selection. There is also a binder with seed packet information available for reference. When you’ve made your selection, fill out the information requested in the binder forms. Then you can take your seeds home to plant!
How many seed packets can I take?
Patrons may select up to 3 packets of seeds per week. We ask that you only take what you need and be mindful of leaving enough seeds for others!
Do I need to return seeds?
No need to bring seeds back to the library; instead we ask that you fill out the check-out form in the binder as a means of monitoring Seed Library usage. You are not expected to return the seed packets and they do not appear as checkouts on your library account.
Are seed donations accepted?
The Goleta Valley Library Seed Library is not currently accepting donations. The seeds in our Seed Library have been generously donated by local nurseries: Island Seed & Feed, Terra Sol, La Sumida, Plant Good Seed, and Nature’s Seed. We'd like to thank our sponsors for supplying seeds for our community.
